Tips For Catching Sea Bass Fish

1. Strips of squid or sea clams are the best natural baits.

2. Jigs, heavy enough to reach the bottom, are excellent.

3. Sea bass spend their winter over wrecks and reefs near the continental shelf. They move to inshore wrecks as the water warms.

4. Let your jig hit the structure below, then crank it up a couple of turns before you start jigging. Most hits will come on the fall.

5. Unlike most fish, the largest sea bass are the males. A shortage of males will send the fish into a population decline.

6. Although sea bass are always found around structures, they are almost never found down in the structure.

7. Light tackle is more fun, but you may want to go to a heavier rig to allow for the size sinkers you will have to use.

8. Whether bait fishing or jigging, use a 12-inch leader of 20- to 30-pound test monofilament line. Wire line is sturdier, but is nearly impossible to break free from a snag.

This kind of hobby actually doesn't need a high budget. Angler should prepare the basic fishing tools without concerning the brands, prices and technologies. Local fishing tools also quality compare to imported fishing tools.

Here we list down the basic thing you need to prepare before fishing:

Bait

The most popular bait is fresh fish, alive prawn and dummy fish. You can get the fresh bait from near fishing shop. Bait are very important for angler to get tackle the fish. The several of bait you can try such as Rapala, Apollo and ‘Tamban’ fish.

Fishing Tools

Usually angler prepare at least 2 set of fishing tools. One for heavy action and one for medium action. The weight of fishing rod also important because the fish weight can risk the rod drop into the water.

Fishing Reel

There is various technique for angler such as jigging, popping and deferrals. This three type of technique are basic for angler.

Fishing Rod

For deferrals technique, angler should bring the 6.6 ft rod for 30/80 pounds action. For jigging, angler use 6 ft rod to get fish like ‘Tenggiri’, ‘Gerepoh’ and ‘Cupak’ below 15kg. For popping rod is 8 to 10ft suitable for far throw technique.

Fishing String

The fishing strings is depend on the fish weight angler want to catch. For deep sea fishing activity, angler use 40 to 80 pounds of embroidery strings. For 50 to 80 angler use catgut strings.

Fish Hook

There are various type from 2/0 to 5/0 for big fish, however 4 to 1/0 for fish small. You are advised to arrange your fish hook with follow the sizes from small until large for convenience use.

Fishing Sinker

There are several sinker for angler use for fishing which is 8, 24 and 32 sizes. The number of sinker to bring for fishing depend on anglers need. It is because the sinker might be lost due to stuck in the water.

Extension String

The color should be natural as a water color such as blue, white and green. The weight is minimum 60 to 100 pound. This extension must be like zero visibility.

Safety Jacket

Make sure the safety jacket are good condition. Also need to know basic of swimming.

Additional Accessories

Additional accessories like tools box, knife, torchlight, glove, fishing cutter, polystyrene box, and wiping cloth.

Food

Food are very important for angler to give a stamina back. You can cook at the area spot location fishing. Also don’t forget bring the first aid to prepare the emergency happen.
